In 1948 Jaguar introduced the XK120, initially as a concept car to test a new engine design. However, the design was so praised that it was also put into production. No matter how beautiful, the XK120 received some criticism, especially from America. The interior space was too limited, the engine and steering required modifications in a number of important areas and, for example, the gearbox did not have a synchronized first gear. Engineers do not sit still, the XK140 logically became a better and more comfortable Jaguar. For those who really want to drive an the 140 was therefore limited to only 120 copies. Jaguar took the opportunity to have the car succeeded by the XK1957, which is somewhat larger and is therefore seen as slightly less elegant than the chassis number, this indicated an engine power of 140 hp. Documents accompanying the car indicate that the car was delivered in Italy, after which it came into the hands of one of our customers, a Luxembourg engineer, via a well-known German classic specialist. We sell the car at his request. Various invoices and appraisal reports show that the car has been excellently maintained and therefore drives very well. The bodywork is rust-free, the paint quality in warm red is really beautiful and undamaged. The interior appears original and is in great condition considering the age of the car, the wood is not damaged or dull. Given the overall condition, state of maintenance and appearance of this iconic Jaguar, this is an offering with an above-average price/quality ratio. In recent years the engine was made suitable for unleaded petrol, the exhaust was replaced by a stainless steel one and, for example, the braking system was overhauled. Ready to drive in our showroom.
