This 1974 Ford Escort RS2000 MkI is being presented as a garage find for restoration, having been in storage since 1997. It is a genuine car with the correct AVO strengthening components in place and a Type 49 shell. It was built in June 1974 at the AVO Aveley factory as an Olympic Blue example, a colour it still retains. It also has its original factory-fitted Pinto engine and is thus a matching numbers example. The date of registration was August 1974. The interior features the Black Beta cloth RS recliners and roll-top headrests, as fitted when new. The odometer shows 16,811 miles and the engine turns over freely.
Paperwork includes the V5C and a previous V5, old MoT certificate, Haynes workshop manual, Escort MkI, II and III: The Development and Competition History book by Jeremy Walton, various magazines and a Ford video on how a car is designed and made. There's also some photos of the car prior to its garage storage.
